Today in Armed Forces Week, Aylesbury MP, Rob Butler, is highlighting the work of local cadets and Cadet Force volunteers.
Armed Forces Week 2020 started on Monday 22 June and culminates with Armed Forces Day on 27 June. Each day of the week has a specific theme, with today focussed on celebrating the contributions of cadets.
Whilst the coronavirus crisis has meant that local cadet units have been unable to meet for group training, many cadets are still participating in virtual training.
Rob said:
“In my constituency of Aylesbury, we are fortunate to have Air, Army and Sea cadet units which provide a fantastic opportunity for young people to build confidence, learn life skills and get involved in their communities.
“Many cadets will also go on to become the next generation of our armed forces, bringing with them the discipline and skills they have gained during their time as cadets.
“Despite coronavirus meaning that units are unable to train in groups, I know many cadets are still diligently training at home and running activities such as bake sales in their communities.
“As well as recognising the great young people involved in cadets, I’d also like to thank Cadet Force volunteers who work extremely hard to provide this opportunity for local young people.”
