This afternoon, I had a wide-ranging meeting in Parliament with HS2 Independent Construction Commissioner Sir Mark Worthington & HS2 Independent Residents’ Commissioner Lord Jackson, following their recent visit to Wendover. I highlighted the continued difficulties around noise, the possible damage to the aquifer and ongoing traffic disruption in Aylesbury, Wendover & Stoke Mandeville.
I was pleased to hear how keen the Commissioners are to help, and – like me – hold HS2 Ltd’s feet to the fire. We agreed that the company and its contractors need to improve the way they engage with local residents & businesses to ensure they’re treated with respect. HS2 Ltd must uphold its own commitment to be a good neighbour – that includes listening to complaints and acting to put them right.
