Aylesbury MP, Rob Butler, is highlighting the work of local Daws Hill Vineyard in Radnage in celebration of English Wine Week 2020.
The vineyard, a family-run business established in 2004, has been hit hard by the coronavirus crisis, having been unable to host group tours or tastings, or sell wine at farmers markets across the country.
The small team uses traditional methods to produce their award-winning English quality sparkling wine, traditional Champagne varieties, Pinot noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.
As well as the vineyard, Rob has visited several other local businesses recently, to speak to owners and staff and see how they have adapted in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
Rob said:
“In English Wine Week, it was great to visit the Daws Hill vineyard and see first-hand the vines in the heart of our beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside, before buying some of the award-winning vintages.
“Like many hospitality businesses in Aylesbury and the surrounding villages, the vineyard has been hit hard by the coronavirus crisis, but it was good to see how quickly it had come up with new ideas such as wine and cheese pairings with a nearby delicatessen.
“I am always keen to champion local small businesses, and have been speaking up for them regularly in Parliament, as well as pushing ministers to give the smallest firms the support they need.
“We can all play our part by buying local as much as we can. So if you are looking for a way to celebrate seeing family and friends again, I can strongly recommend picking up a bottle of Daws Hill sparkling wine.”
