Today marks the beginning of Armed Forces Week, during which we show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community – currently serving troops and Service families, veterans and cadets.
Over the past two days, I’ve been at the UK Defence Academy with cross-party MPs and Peers as part of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme. We had a fascinating insight into the strategy and day-to-day work of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force and Strategic Command.
Parliament was recalled today for a debate on the situation in Afghanistan. I was pleased to have the opportunity to speak briefly with the Prime Minister after his speech.
