Rob serves on the Bill Committee for the Victims and Prisoners Bill

In our ongoing scrutiny of the Victims' Bill, today we have considered how the Victims Commissioner will play a bigger role in the inspections of prisons, probation, police and prosecution services. This is a welcome improvement that will undoubtedly give victims a stronger voice.

Rob attends Sense drop in

More than 450,000 people in the UK are deafblind and this number is expected to increase to more than 600,000 by 2030, so it was good to meet the charity Sense in the House of Commons for #DeafblindAwarenessWeek.

Rob attends RAF Freedom of Buckinghamshire Parade

This morning, personnel from Royal Air Force Halton exercised the freedom of Buckinghamshire when they marched through Wendover bearing arms - bayonets fixed - and flying the King’s Colour. They were led by the band of the RAF Regiment.

Rob drops into Church Farm Barn

Great to meet Tom and Ellie at Church Farm barn in Weston Turville, for their monthly pop-up farm shop and cafe open the last weekend of the month.

Rob visits the Thomas Hickman Charity

For #SmallCharityWeek, I had an excellent visit to the Thomas Hickman Charity's almshouses in Aylesbury.

The charity, which grew out of Thomas Hickman’s original bequest in 1698, provides homes for almost 80 local elderly people in financial need across 48 properties in the old town.

I was delighted to open the new health & social care suite at Aylesbury UTC this morning, with Chair of Governors Sir Mike Tomlinson. Following the Covid pandemic, the need for health & social care staff has never been greater - especially in Bucks, with our ageing population.
