One of the most common complaints I hear when I'm talking to residents in Aylesbury is how difficult it can be to get through to GPs' surgeries to make an appointment.
It is currently Hospice Care Week - a chance to celebrate the excellent work being done by hospices nationwide, to ensure everyone can benefits from the best end of life care. All hospices rely heavily on funding from the local community, so it was good to visit two of their shops today.
It was good to visit the “Wendover Shed” this afternoon: a local group that aims to promote health and well-being through social interaction and practical activities.
I had a fascinating visit to De Soutter Medical in Aston Clinton. They develop, produce & sell more than 800 surgical tools, especially for orthopaedics.
The Buckinghamshire Community Wellbeing Hub aims to provide a useful space in Aylesbury for health & social care professionals, as well as voluntary groups, to share their skills & experience with students Bucks New University. Enjoyed looking around & meeting the management team.
It was really good to visit Booker Park School today, meet staff and see some of the excellent facilities it has for its 240 children with complex needs. The school is rightly proud of the way it is able to inspire and enable its pupils to achieve and play an active role in their own lives.
